It has been said many times, and I believe this to be true, that for a large percentage of our population, public speaking is feared more than death! And this fear can affect anyone, at any level, from any background. Right from the privately educated CEO of a blue chip conglomerate, to someone from a more humble background, doing an early managerial role. In fact it has been recorded that 75% of the population are afraid of public speaking. I even know of teachers, whose job it is to stand up and talk in front of 30 teenagers day in day out, who are terrified at the thought of standing up and talking in front of adults, or their peers.
Is this fear rational? Of course it’s not! |
